Apart-hotel vs regular hotel: what to choose?

< return to news list

Apartment in the Apart-hotel is a room that consists of several rooms and a kitchen, in fact it looks like a full flat. At the same time, the cost of an apartment is only slightly different from a standard hotel room, which often has nothing but a bed and a bathroom.

Apart-hotel is a great option for those whom the conditions of ordinary hotels do not fit for any reason. Those reasons can be very diverse. Families with children often need to be able to ppare meals at any time. For those who travel with a large company, need a place for evening gatherings. For those who pfer to immerse themselves in culture and daily life of the country during the trip, accommodation in the apartment allows you to feel like one of the locals. And for those who come on a business trip, it is important to feel like home. At the same time, in comparison with hotels, apart-hotels provide a limited range of services, so this option is not suitable for everyone.

Apart-hotels usually have a reception area, but the range of services provided is limited

Hotels: advantages and disadvantages

One of the main advantages of the hotel can be called a guaranteed level of service.

Indeed most people still look for comfort during the rest. But for someone comfort is the regular change of towels and for someone – the opportunity to comfortably fit the whole family in one room so that no one is huddled on an uncomfortable sofa or worse a cot.

The hotels provide round-the-clock support: transfers, currency exchange, excursions and other services.

As a rule, there are no problems with parking – it can be paid, but at least you do not have to worry about availability. Depending on the level of the hotel, without leaving it and without additional payment, you can use a swimming pool and a gym, on the territory there are often shops, cafes, restaurants, beauty salons.

The main disadvantage of the hotel is the inability to comfortably accommodate more than three people in one room. This is either too expensive (and not every hotel has such room) or leads to the need for someone to sacrifice comfort.

In small European cities it is very difficult to find breakfast outside the hotel.

If the hotel does not provide breakfast, then you will recall that you had the opportunity to book apartments and ppare yourself something more substantial than a coffee. Moreover to eat at the hotel in strictly allotted time is not convenient for everyone.

Another disadvantage is the limited space: in many rooms there is nothing but a bed (we are not talking about luxury rooms right now).

Apartments: advantages and disadvantages

Booking an apartment you get a full apartment with everything you need almost at the same price as for a regular hotel room. In this apartment you can gather with friends, organize dinners and just enjoy and spend time together. You can ppare your own breakfast and dinner at any time, because an apartment has a kitchen.

For those whom home cosines is important, apart-hotel will allow you to feel it and will help you better adapt to the environment where you stay.

Additional advantage – a peaceful atmosphere (the apartment usually has better sound proof compare to hotel room). The owners of the apartments are usually loyal to guests with pets, while many hotels categorically refuse pets in rooms.

The flexible system of rates for apartment hotels allows you to plan the cost of accommodation: longer you stay, lower price you get.

There is no such system in ordinary hotels. In addition, booking an apartment is often easier than to find a vacant hotel room: for example, during peak season or during mass events.

The room in the apart-hotel is more often a room with a free layout.

Disadvantages of accommodation in the apart-hotel: typically, a standard room rate includes weekly housekeeping service.

For the daily service you have to pay extra or do it yourself. Everything you need for cleaning (a bucket, a rag, brooms and scoops) is provided for free.

Additional services: swimming pool, spa and gym – can be found only in apart-hotels not less than 4 *. Usually, there is no own restaurant in apart-hotels, but this is not so significant: there is an own kitchen and usually apart-hotel is located in the city center with a large number of dining rooms, cafes and restaurants for any budget.

Features of choice

Choosing between an apart-hotel and a hotel, you should focus on your needs:

  • How many travelers: two, three or a big company.
  • How important is infrastructure to you.
  • Do you pfer to eat in a cafe or cook on your own, or you need food on schedule.
  • Do you plan only to sleep in a room or you need space (for meetings with friends, games with children, etc.).
  • Rent is assumed to be short-term or long-term.

You should also consider the country you are traveling to. For example, if you go to Finland, then even in a standard hotel room you will find a kitchen and a children’s room. There are European towns, where there are only apart-hotels and apartments, and there are no big hotels. Apart-hotels in Russia – a relatively new phenomenon, and this is their key advantage over the old hotel stock.
